Samhain, pronounced SAH-win, is the Gaelic holiday that marks about halfway between the autumn and winter solstices. It was the end of the harvest and a time when the fabric between the lands of the living and the dead was the thinnest. Historically it was marked with fantastic feasts and communication with the dead. Over the centuries the holiday has evolved into Halloween.
